Pinterest Challenge

Pinterest Challenge

If you follow me on Pinterest you will know I am quite a fan of the whole 'pinning' business (if you don't follow me, then you can find all my boards here). Mainly because it stops me from saving all the images I like to my desktop and using up my hard drive space. I also love how organized you can be with even trying... as trust me I'm the least organized person. You simply create your board (I have eleven) and then just start pinning and you can even chose the image that shows up on the preview of each board so it all looks nice.

My favourite things to pin are nail art and recipes... though I am loving pinning Christmas things at the moment and have been pinning Christmas gift and decoration ideas before going to bed as I find it relaxing. However I have noticed a pattern emerging... I pin these images of inspiration but then I don't try to re-create them or do anything with them! I just look at the pretty pictures now and again.

So I have decided to give myself a bit of a challenge for on this blog and also on Makeup Savvy. Each week for a month I'm going to try a new recipe from my food board and post the results here and I'm also going to try out some nail art that I have previous pinned each week on Makeup Savvy. Not a hard challenge as such but it will definitely get me trying out some new things.

I have some lovely recipes pinned on my food/recipe board Jalepeno Popper Stuffed Chicken, White Chocolate Rocky Road, Portobello and Leek Carbonara, Parmesan Seasoned Fries so I definitely won't be stuck for choice.

I think I'm going to try a savoury recipe first that is more on the healthy side as I'm trying to eat healthier at the moment and I'm also on Day 5 of the 30 Day Shred! So I don't want to be making cake for myself?!

If anyone else wants to give this idea/challenge a go then feel free.

Little Desk Accessories

dotcomgiftshop school milk bottle

As I mentioned in my last post I'm currently turning my spare room in to an office/dressing room, which I have been really enjoying doing. I have lots of painting and wallpapering left to do plus I also need to hang some pictures and put up my nail polish rack, but I have bought everything I need and all my accessories are out on my desk.

So I thought I would just show a few things I specifically bought for the room because they were quite inexpensive.

After seeing the lovely Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter mention the cute Rabbit Night Light (£4.95 - here) she bought from DotComGiftShop for her daughter, I had to have it! Yes, it is slightly childish but I love whimsical objects that bring a smile to my face. Plus I love that it is just battery operated so it can be placed anywhere on my desk... I'm sure it will look lovely as the nights start to go darker earlier and I can switch it on as I blog.

However because the DotComGiftShop was totally new to me I was lured in by all the other pretty products they sell and ended up buying a Traditional School Milk Bottle (£2.95 - here) which I love so much. I think it looks great as a vase. As for the flowers I bought some artificial ones (can't be doing with fresh flowers and water) for around £4 from Dunelm Mill - I thought adding the fluffy pom pom grass with the red roses was a nice mix. I now want to buy three of the milk bottles for in my kitchen lined up I think.

I also bought an old fashioned sweets jar that holds a few lip glosses from Matalan for £3 and the postcards under my desk mainly came from Paperchase (60p each), but the laser cut Rob Ryan ones were originally cards that I cut in half. As for the dog (Ruby) sat on the chair... well she is priceless.

Once I have put up my DIY notice boards, art prints and nail polish rack I will definitely do another post showing them and maybe even a DIY post on the notice boards as they were so cheap to make.
